Meet “Deep Thought”, While your systems may be less flashy, this is the main desktop I use to work on day-to-day. It has several virtual machines as well as a windows 11 host OS, I use it for development and programming, video edits, graphic design, disk imaging, and SSH commands for various network devices in the house. I must add, most of the Horsepower here is for the Flight Simulator I use to keep my flying skill sharp and crank up the eye candy.

It features a liquid-cooled 20-core intel I7 and 32gb of ram (with room to grow). Having a strong, Central desktop can be beneficial to this style of system, for example, being able to run a couple headless virtual machines via remote desktop gives you the ability to support 2 or 3 employees using their own home computers while keeping the data securely on a centralized system that can be maintained in one place.

You could say my business is the first beta test of the Carbon Catalyst system as a proof of concept.

Old Computers can make great start-up servers, this gaming computer was over 10 years old, but the Ram was upgraded, a faster network card was installed and the processor was powerful enough to handle virtual machines quite well for network-based web applications. The video card was removed in favor of onboard graphics, the overclocking turned off and the liquid cooling converted back to air-cooled so it can run on minimal power and produce minimal noise.
This means it can serve a team of workers via a VPN connection and perform quite well doing so and not requiring as much power usage as it once did as a gaming PC.
